Come see what we’re all about.

The founding members of the Anacapa Yacht Club were originally members of another local club, still active in Channel Island Harbor. In 1967, a group of racing sailors decided that the area did not offer the level of racing activity they were seeking. They formed the Anacapa Yacht Club with the intended purpose of promoting sailboat racing in the Oxnard area. The Anacapa Yacht Club was chartered by the Souther California Yachting Association (SCYA) on the 25th of November 1967 and incorporated as a non-profit corporation in the state of California. The founding members of the club were Tom Bissett, Neil Weinrich, Rod Mortenson, Beady Purcell, Ron Harrison and Tom Stumfall.

Anacapa Yacht Club is a self-help yacht club with its members providing all of the human resources necessary to put on the many events during each year and a no cost mandate for with membership. As an AYC Member you can take part in a long standing tradition in Channel Island Harbor and represent the club through our amazing race program, leading or participating in one of our many cruises, take advantage of the club’s reciprocal privileges and take out our club boat Piper a Tartan 34!
