All hands on deck!
The Commodore’s Compass
Anacapa Yacht Club's 60 th Wet Wed series is in the history books now. Six months of preparing starting lines and computing results. Not to mention the buying, stocking, preparing, and serving of food and grog for the hungry and thirsty sailors after the race. Wet Wednesdays are a big deal and our members who participated can be proud of this year's series. We had more boats starting, and more sailors in the club this year than previous years, Thanks to Regina and Cheyenne Hernandez our bar and kitchen managers who never missed a race and kept us stocked with supplies. Thanks to our race committee, Lorenz, Dan, Marshall, Alan, Dominic, and Cheyenne for getting the races started and computing the results, Now we must get ready for next years series.
Which leads me to the help wanted section of this month's Main Sheet.
Regina and Cheyenne are moving to Washington state wanting to be closer to family. We need a few members to step up to fill their shoes. Bar manager requires, realistically, Wed afternoons to stock the bar for the evenings event and to inventory and order for the next Wed. Be willing to be head bartender for Wednesday. Experience is welcome but not required.
Galley manager duties involve inventories supplies for our menu then shops for them every Wed. Serving the plates not required, we as members serve as ODs once or twice a year. Galley managers can establish the menu, food quality and prices for our menu. Ever dream of running a restaurant or a bar? Here's opportunity without the financial risk.
Bartenders are always needed. You can be a bartender in California by taking a short 4 hour course, Userve is an online course I have used. It's super easy. Crafting the drinks and serving them is fun and a few times behind the bar will get you up to speed quickly. Drop me an email at chuckmanley@hotmail.com if you are interested.
AYCs Open Mic last month was a great success mainly thanks to CIYC who were there to honor one of their members who participates in our Open Mic night. Their bridge and board were having a great time. A hell of a party was had when our members finished the Tequila Derby began to come by as well.
See you all on the water!
Don’t forget the sunscreen, hat, waterbottle, and the fun!
The last Wet Wednesday in August…
